What is Eid?
Eid is a festival that celebrates the end of Ramadan. Muslims spend the month of Ramadan reflecting and contributing to their community while they fast from dusk to dawn. Many people choose to focus on family and charity work during this time. Once the month of reflecting is over families come together to celebrate with their community at one large festival.
Eid festivities focus on food and friends. Everyone gathers in one community center to celebrate and eat. The day consists of feasting on kebobs, rice dishes, and crepes together. Sweet treats like pistachios and walnut-filled cookies, different cakes, and pop can be found on almost every family’s kitchen table during this time.
